AHLS for Tox-Medics
This course takes a hands-on approach to the Poisoning Treatment Paradigm™ and other fundamentals learned in the AHLS Provider course. You must be a current AHLS Provider to take this course.
Participants of AHLS for Tox-Medics will be better able to:
- Describe the role of decontamination in the treatment of patients who have suffered potential chemical, biological, radiation, or nuclear exposure.
- Understand the properties of chlorine gas and its production of symptoms.
- Describe the procedure for administration of hydroxocobalamin to a patient with suspected exposure to hydrogen cyanide who has severe signs and symptoms.
- Recognize and discuss the pitfalls of the administration of nitrites and thiosulfate in house fire victims.
- Recognize the treatment priorities of patients with traumatic injuries, with radiation or nuclear exposure.
